   APPENDIX 2b, CONCEPT AND DETAILING

   All drawings are made at a level that allows to make a dynamic mock-up working as emulator.
      The goal was to develop a workable scheme / concept of self-propelled guns, ultimate parameters, having a reasonable price level and when it working as part of an impact tactical group capable to suppressing, of any existing, modern self-propelled guns in a counter-battery working.

   The self-propelled 155 mm howitzer-cannon is designed to provide work and cover for the impact tactical group during an attack and on the march.

   Its task is to destroying enemy artillery and tanks detected by air reconnaissance vehicles of the impact tactical group which are capable of counteracting to the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to it and to cover it with shrapnel shots from air attacks at a slant range of up to 10 km as from aircraft and as from planning bombs.

   The specific features of this module are:

   1. It's full automation and open location of a module between two semi-turrets, which allows firing with a long recoil way and within working angles from -3* to +60*;
   2. Loading is carried out in the charging chamber, deflected from the line of the shot. This method allows to provide both 6-8 rounds per minute with a long firing mode and four shots with a simultaneous hit in one point, completed in less than one minute;
   3. The fulfilment of the shot is carried out by a combined propellant charge that uses a variable charge of monergol (liquid monopropellant), which allows to hit targets at various distances and trajectories;
   4. The usage of a 170/155 bicaliber barrel having a conical transition, with a projectile having a special type of seal/ leading belt, which allows, when using a projectile with a bottom gas generator, to obtain a firing range of up to 50 km with permissible group scatter.

   The artillery module is installed on a rotating pedestal, which is also work as the rotation unit for the floor of the towers. The turn of the pedestal (pointing horizontally) is carried out by hydraulic motors.
   The rotating pedestal can to lower the barrel to the transport position.

   Vertical guidance is carried out by lockable double-acting hydraulic cylinders with a multi-speed hydraulic system.

   The system of roll-out of barrel, recuperation and automation of the barrel is closed by an armored box.
   The swinging charging chamber in the position (to the shot) is locked horizontally with a sliding breech-block.
   The muzzle brake has an injection part, which, at the time of the shot, pumps through air for the barrel cooling.
   The injected air, mixing with the gases of the shot, reduces their temperature and the brightness of the flash of the shot.
   The barrel is covered with a thermal casing and has a thermal stabilization system.

   The retractable mechanism provides:
   1 - a fixation of the receiver group in the rear position in order to prepare it to the first shot or to bring to the transport position;
   2 - roll-out of the barrel in the first phase of the execution of a shot into the extremely of a possible of forward position, for partial compensation of the recoil from the shot;
   3 - energy recovering of an uncompensated recoil from a shot, followed by fixation of the receiver group in the extreme rear position

   Recoiling roll-out mechanism works as follows.
   At the first moment of the propellant charge activation, powder gases, through a partially open bypass channel, shift the gas piston back, releasing the barrel group from the locking mechanism. Compressed disc springs send the entire the barrel's installation forward, starting to rolling-out. After the stem group begins to move forward, the bypass channel is opened completely for the roll-out time and the powder gases entering in the cylinder moves the barrel group forward, relative to the piston, which rod resting at the locking mechanism.

   7 - disk springs of the initial, passive roll-out of the barrel; 8 - damper cavity; 9 - active roll-out piston; 10 - throttle; 11 - bypass channel

   At the moment when the recoil force begins to overcome the pressure of the gases on the roll-out piston, the barrel group begins to move back, in which the recoiling roll-out mechanism works like simple a hydra-spring recoiling mechanism.
   At the end of the rollback, the recoiling mechanism is fixed in the rear position. The locking mechanism has its own short-stroke spring damper.
