Providence of Progress, providentiality of marxism...

Raymond Aron, critic of marxism and communism for liberty.

Raymond Aron criticises marxism in its supposition

that Man is rational creature and way of mankind is governed by scientific laws.

But Freud, Young, Marx and Darwin are thought to discover laws governing Man and Nature.

Not that they discovered all there is to discover and got it right at all.

But Man and Nature , though maybe not rational, is open to rational inquiry.

And Progress is possible and essential, though not automatic and bound by providential

supernatural determinism.

The way from inferno, from slavery, from barbarity, from spiritual death
to civilisation, freedom, spiritual life is the way of Mankind.

But Mankind is so slow on this way, so many times stumbles, falls, regresses back to the primeval,

stops, dupes itself and is being duped, errs that faith in Progress is much shaken,

if not to say compromised.

But, of course you should help to liberate East Germans and Polish people.

But that doesn't free you from your debt to liberate Asia, Africa and Latin America,

whose fate is much graver.

Communism committed many grave mistakes in its history, but that doesn't

dismiss its mission, which is spiritual progress of Mankind.

Bereft of communism, mankind is devoid of hope, devoid of future and prone

to totalitarism of oligarchic, fascist type.

And if the oligarchic totalitarism conquers the Earth, the Earth has a grim future, no future at all
