A useful professional overload. A story about legal activity.
In some of the previous miniatures, I described the circumstances, cases and actors from a long-completed my legal activity.
There will be this story on the same topic.
There are legal processes involving large enterprises and their numerous teams. These processes take a long time and require great effort from representatives - at least from those representatives who honestly perform their duties and strive to bring the case to a successful conclusion.
On the way to achieving an optimal result, there is a temptation to transfer to other people some of the secondary duties of a representative of the party to the dispute.
Someone recommends someone, someone studied together with someone, or lives in the neighborhood and has known the person since childhood - and a certain team is forming.
At some point, a girl named Balykova appeared in the team in which I worked (I don't remember her name).
It seems that she had a law degree. What educational institution did she graduate from? I don't know, or I don't remember.
Fragments of her stories emerge from the fog of the distant past: she worked for some government organization, she could be called to work at any moment, even at the moment when she was taking a bath. And she had to head to the working place with a wet hair (in a period of a winter cold - ?). A cot at work - does this apply to her or not to her? I don't remember exactly.
Something else comes to mind from her stories: the team in which she previously worked went out into nature (river bank - ?). The aspirations of the male representatives towards the female representatives were unpleasant for her.
She either didn't tell me anything more about her previous activities, or I don't remember anything.
Perhaps she performed some useful functions in our team, but I can't remember anything specific. Most likely, having someone's recommendations, a diploma obtained somewhere and a some experience in the legal field, she got into our team, but she could not show any useful results.
But still, she was different from the rest of the female members of the team. One day, we all left the room where we were working together. The protective metal blinds on the windows were lowered. At that moment, she made a skeptical remark about metal blinds: if a smoke bomb will be thrown inside the room, the blinds will not help. None of the female members of our team made any such comments.
She was not particularly attractive. But she had some separate signs of attractiveness.
A person who is absorbed in legal worries around the clock does not have much enjoying in life. Sometimes my gaze stopped at her, and the thought appeared: to visit a cafe together, or to have together some other pleasant occupation. But due to the zero level of positive response from her side, the corresponding my thought was replacing by another portion of legal worries.
Sometimes it seemed to me that I could see a pleasure on Balykova's face. This was happening in the moments of preparation for collectively celebrated holidays. She was happy to arranging fruits, sweets and pieces of cake on plates and to putting these plates on the table.
Why did she continue to stay in our team and to receive regular salaries?
I can't explain it now. I can only assume that my maximum employment, - an overload, - simply did not leave time to deal with other issues.
One day Balykova addressed me with the following question. It turned out that she has a father (I heard about him for the first time), and her father's car battery failed (I also heard about the battery for the first time). Can I allocate funds for the purchase of a new car battery?
Due to the overload, I was unable to digest this issue correctly and to foresee its development over time.
In the most economical version of the intelligent analysis of the situation, I tried to find the logical links between a failed car battery and my financial resources. Having failed to find these logical links, I refused to request for funds for a new car battery.
But I shouldn't have been so caught up in my legal musings.
Periodically, the various "office" expenses related to legal activities or to other issues were needed: to make some payments, to buy postal envelopes, printer paper...
A certain amount of money could appear on the table for a while. To replace the cartridge (for printer), for example, more or less noticeable money was required. By coincidence, the corresponding amount could be significant.
Soon Balykova disappeared. Almost forever. At the same moment, the "office" funds allocated for planned needs disappeared.
Such an action was also not typical for our team. There was an unpleasant atmosphere. Someone knew Balykova - someone gave her a recommendation - it was unpleasant to find out about the fact itself and it was unpleasant to wait for the consequences.
Thanks to her (Balykova's) connections in our team, I found out that she went to visit relatives on the Black Sea coast. There were some other details that I didn't need and I wasn't interested in. All her personal documents were at Balykova's disposal.
Apparently, the overload worked again, after some time I once more allocated means for the same planned needs, and Balykova became a phenomenon of the past.
However, about 15 years later, a piece of paper turned out to be in my hands. The surname "Balykova" and the phone number were written on it. It turned out that she was looking for me.
It was unpleasant to communicate with her ("the spoons were not found, and the sediment remained"), but I called this number.
It turned out that some considerations related to her activities in our team prompted her to contact me with some kind of request.
I explained that the team (in which she worked) has not existed for many years.
I did not hear any apologies or regrets about the "office" money that disappeared simultaneously with Balykova disappearance.
After that phone conversation, she disappeared again.
Sometimes, remembering different circumstances of the past, I come to the thought that professional overload had not only negative, but also positive sides.
