Alexander Herzen on the Kosti-NF. The story (continued).

Mr. Wintertund - after the transfer of the folder with the contents through the Mrs. Quicktalker - was feeling a some anxiety. The folder was beautiful, it lay in the desk and did not interfere with anyone. If the folder is sent to the State Fund for Cinema Support, then it is desirable that there be a result.

Two hours later, the Mrs. Quicktalker called and said that on the way to the Fund, she opened, initiated a bank account, and on the way back she visited this bank. Part of the money is, already, credited to the account.

  Mr. Wintertund sighed with relief.

But now he was faced with a new challenge. How to thank Mr. Barefoot for valuable information?

We are creative people. Do you remember how Herzen and Ogarev swore loyalty to each other? So you need to take an example from them, from their mutual support!

Mr. Wintertund went to the office door and locked it with a key. He additionally, - just in case, - propped up the door with a chair.

Then he walked up to a special desktop landline telephone apparatus - the apparatus with the handset, which was never, no one time, rised. Mr. Wintertund accidentally dropped a ballpoint pen. The handle rolled under the table.

Mr. Wintertund bent down to get a pen and, settling himself as close as possible to the mysterious telephone, whispered:

"Mr. Barefoot is a creative person, he published eighteen books under his name. It would be right to encourage him!"

Fingers groped for the fallen pen, and Mr. Wintertund returned to an upright position.

He sat down in his chair, and a few seconds later the cell phone rang.

An extreme travel lover, who was receiving means from a super-innovative holding, called on Mr. Wintertund's cell phone. The main innovation of this holding was a scheme in accordance with which money came to the holding not from the buyers of its products, but in the form of government funding. But some result for the public needs to be announced. The lover of extreme travel was flying in a hot air balloon, on an electric plane, was sailing on a boat across the ocean and he was placing the logo of the super-innovative holding on his means of transportation. Everyone saw that the holding was working effectively.

A lover of extreme travel told Mr. Wintertund that one of the high rank figures (close to cultural state finance) erected a monument to geese and now intends to present, to issue certificates of honor to a wide range of journalists - those, who praised this monument, those, who launched this monument onto an extreme altitude of public attitude.

A lover of extreme travel is an influential figure, and he is ready to assist - to include Mr. Wintertund and all those whom he recommends to the list of those awarded with the certificate of honor. Does he have worthy people? Whom does he recommend for awarding the certificate of honor?

  - There is a talented critic, writer, author of eighteen books! Pavel Barefoot! - Mr. Wintertund explained. - But he has come a long career and deserves a reward, which can be expressed in green portraits!

The travel lover made a pause and said he would call some later. He completed the conversation.

Taking advantage of the pause, Mr. Wintertund estimated how much means needed to award Mr. Barefoot. It turned out that at least five thousand U.S. dollars. So much is worth more or less decent radio reportage on the Kosti-NF radio station. And the timely tip, made by Mr. Barefoot, about money in the State Fund for Cinema Support can be equated to a good radio reportage.

Again a phone call from a travel lover.

  - In one of the federal subjects, the local authorities intend to issue a literary prize in honor of one of the Russian cultural figures of the past, a writer who once lived and worked in the province (then it was a Governorate). I can arrange this prize for Mr. Barefoot. You is agree?

Mr. Wintertund pondered for a second.

'The prize is fifty thousand rubles. Well ... Plus - minus ... Translated into US dollars, this is (under a good scenario, $ 700). It is obviously not the $ 5,000 (five thousand US dollars). Yes, plus travel, accommodation, running costs ... ".

The famous traveler seemed to have heard the thoughts of Mr. Wintertund.

  - Travel, accommodation and some cash for running costs are all at the expense of the host. There is also a bonus: before, the prize was awarded on behalf of the government of the federal subject. It was a diploma and a sum of money. Now the status of the award has increased. It is not awarded on behalf of the regional government, but on behalf of the governor. The diploma and the money will be accompanied (for the first time - a completely new event!) by a commemorative sign - like an order, like a medal. This sign is made of silver. It is decorated with gilding and enamel. It's inexpensive but a stylish. Plus a silver chain. The total weight of pure silver is about 500 grams. But this is not the main thing. They have a master jeweler there, a talented person, with a bunch of international degrees and a recognized reputation. Known abroad. He will make this commemorative sign according to the author's design project. And during a year (theoretically a second sign may be needed in a year) it will be an original thing. If the commemorative sign (medal) would be sell without delay, when it would be a clearly original thing, then at the auction it possible to get about ten thousand dollars (subject to the availability of a genuine certificate from a master jeweler with an international name).

Mr. Wintertund strained his memory. He had heard about this master jeweler somewhere. Indeed, a talented person. A good master. He will make any medal, any order ... Do you want to become a Hero? Or get your own the Order of Ushakov? Nothing could be easier ...

  - This is what is necessary! ("To sell - not to sell, - let Mr. Barefoot decide. The main thing is that the reciprocal step is made at a decent level").

  - So, we agreed. Turn on your TV, wait for the news, watch the awards ceremony! Mr. Barefoot will be contacted by those who will deal with this matter.

  - Thank you!

Mr. Wintertund looked at the mysterious phone with love.

Mr. Wintertund went to the office door, pushed back the chair and rotated the key.

He opened the door, just in case.

On the doorstep there was a Mrs. Quicktalker.

  - Come in! - Mr. Wintertund invited her to enter.

A similar envelope returned to Mr. Wintertund, like such one, which left the desk through the folder transferred to the Fund. But this envelope was twice as thick.

  - You will turn into a laureate of a literary prize on the base of your movie script! - Mr. Wintertund kindly praised Mrs. Quicktalker.

The working day has already ended. In an excellent mood, the Mrs. Quicktalker hurried home: "New Year brings miracles!"

Mr. Wintertund dialed the boss's phone number. The boss must be informed!

  - Buckwheat!

  - Oat flakes!

Fine. The boss is pleased and approves. We ought to stop doing a small things. A serious approach is needed to the budget financing of culture!

'Now we need to properly dispose of the New Year's gift - to spend the money profitably,' - Mr. Wintertund thought, getting ready to go home. He remembered the proverb: "Less money, less hassle."

It is necessary to transfer this proverb to the department of explanatory and educational inserts of the Kosti-NF radio station for a practical usage! ...

[Explanation: Alexander Ivanovich Herzen (Russian: Александр Иванович Герцен; April 6 [O.S. 25 March] 1812 - January 21 [O.S. 9 January] 1870) was a Russian writer and thinker.
