Since the times of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the French Revolution, the concept of a social contract has been established in Western, in European political consciousness.
We can find the origins of this concept in some provisions of the Bible.
Naturally, not all political systems corresponded in practice to this concept.
However, the sign of the Western, European civilized man was the recognition in principle of this concept. The rule of good manners was, if not to follow this concept, then at least imitate agreement with it. Even the dictator Stalin recognized it useful to adopt a constitution, write pleasant words in it and demonstrate - if possible - to the whole world that he and his entourage are in power according the will of the vast majority of the people ...
For four hundred years (and if to count since the Bible, then two thousand years) Europe was moving forward with respect, reverence to the concept of a social contract.
But, finally, Alexander Lukashenko appeared in modern European history, in the history of the Western world!
Do citizens have an opinion !? But I have my own opinion!
And if the apparatus of violence, the apparatus of suppression is attached, added to personal opinion?!
Genghis Khan once visited Europe! He had his own vision of politics ...
But no, Lukashenko is not very cruel. He, like Nicholas Maduro, is not opposed to huge masses of dissenters, who are going abroad - in exile.
If such political algorithm works in Latin America, why can't it work in Europe?
So there are signs of humanity that distinguish Lukashenko from Genghis Khan.
We see the third millennium.
And Lukashenko came to us with his 'magical three decades [1991 - 2020] of achievements' - to remind us of the attractiveness of the European way of life, to demonstrate to us the fragility of European values!
