The training camp was organized at a training ground in a neighboring subject of federation.
Some of students stayed in Rostov. These were people with experience in military service. There were a little number of them. The rest on the train went to the training ground.
Some fell ill after arrival. The sick people lived in separate tents during all the training period.
Someone carried out important assignments and lived separately.
The rest, including myself, lived in a huge barracks.
In the unit, consisting of students, there were commanders from students - my friends - with whom I studied for five years - they served in the army before the university and had the rank of sergeants, senior sergeants, etc.
It's came a time for students to gain experience in guarding an object as sentries. Before leaving to post [guarding point], the student received an assault rifle with live ammunition and went to the post [place of guarding] together with the senior in rank - they had a special name, which I now cannot remember exactly, and there is no mood to look for the guard duty charter and to read it.
Among the guarding chiefs, there may have been a career officer. In addition, our commanders - students with whom I studied and were on friendly terms during my studies - were in the managment of the guarding process.
While at the post, I saw a man in civilian clothes passing by me.
In general, it was clear that this was some kind of employee from among the employees of the facility. He behaved confidently before meeting with me, and during the meeting with me, and after returning from the place of detention - in the company with the chiefs of guarding process.
The instructions and the military Charter demanded to detain this person. I had to act according to the charter. The man didn't mind. He sat down in the grass nearby, finding a piece of wood or something else. When the the guarding chiefs arrived at post, they, without further ado, took him under their care and took him somewhere.
My friends looked at me closely and said nothing.
As I later found out, the students who were on guard, at the post, who somehow proved themselves on the guard, received leave and spent their free time outside the barracks and the territory around the barracks.
Except for an attentive look and exapt a silence on the part of the elders on the guard, I did not receive anything after being at the post.
I did not ask to my comrades-commanders any questions. Firstly, having gained experience of serving in the army, they knew how to very neatly lay their uniforms on the bed, and knew how to perfectly spread the blanket on the bed. Many were skeptical about these necessary matters or simply did not have time to acquire useful skills during the training camp. Secondly, I learned about the leave - about the encouragement - ten or fifteen days after this guarding experience. Someone accidentally informed me. Thirdly, the reality did not support a thoughts about some kind of clarification of any questions. I just had a desire to complete this training period calmly.
Probably, the person, who was detained by me, was a useful man, and no one was interested in somehow drawing attention to this case.
Without much regret, I spent a time without the leave. And in general, can the detention of the offender during the guard duty be considered some kind of noteworthy act, especially since the detainee was, presumably, a local employee?
Of course, it can be assumed that it was kind of thief who was sent to the warehouse to steal something while the students were on guard, who were on duty for the first time and who were not able to adequately understand the instructions, the military Charter and to adequately respond to what was happening, who felt respect to any confident person ...
But this assumption - about the thief - came to me only now, after writing this whole text ...
