(1) are unnecessary,
(2) draws undue attention to people who don't need it.
One way or another, "the world's first vaccine" has been developed, and nothing has been heard about the awards to the collective of the saviors of mankind (presumably from 50 to 500 people).
On the contrary, we hear about other, the most amazing situations ...
