Unique process of formation of a new geographical object on the map of Khabarovsk Krai will be studied by scientists during another complex expedition to the place of a descent of a huge landslide on the Bureya anomaly. As the deputy director for scientific work of Institute of water and environmental problems of the FEB RAS Alexey Makhinov told the correspondent of Habarovsky Kray Segodnya news Agency, field researches are planned for the second half of June.
- On the right coast around a landslide the so-called dammed lake is formed. The fact that just opposite the collapse a small stream flowed. When huge amounts of soil blocked the riverbed of the Bureya, they closed the flow of water from this stream. A new body of water began to form , it is very clearly visible in the pictures, which made a specialist of our Institute Andrey Ostroukhov. ... One day, sooner or later, the water from this lake will make its way. What processes are now taking place on the banks of the Bureya reservoir, whether there are dangers of new landslides, will be found out during our expedition, - explained the doctor of geographical Sciences Alexei Makhinov.
