Threats: against whom, by what means, from whom. A media-criminological essay.
For two days, the media was filled with information about threats against a very valuable (even irreplaceable) person.
I, as a conscientious citizen, who have been for more than ten (fifteen? ...twenty? ...) years has not received a single kopeck from my native state (only making payments in his favor), is concerned. But my concern is very vague, because of the uncertainty of the information.
So I decided to write a real essay.
Take, for example, threats against the most famous Russian historian. And let's analyze (briefly) these threats.
Who were these threats addressed to?
Firstly, to the (personally) most famous historian. Secondly, to his young wife (de facto wife).
In what ways were the threats made?
Several methods were used:
A) phone calls,
B) interaction via the Internet,
C) throwing dead rats under the door of the historian's apartment,
D) inscriptions on the walls of the entrance.
If my memory serves me correctly, this historian was invited to his "broadcast" by a local Internet-blogger, and during the broadcast, the historian personally interacted with the man who wrote the controversial book about the war of 1812. If my memory really gives me the right clue, then perhaps it is acceptable to add PERSONAL INTERACTION.
Who made the threats? From whom the threats were?
The most correct answer is: from unknown persons. At the same time, in the process of collective (mass) journalistic investigation, the figure of a man who, quite possibly, was involved in generating threats was constantly mentioned.
During the trial - prolonged stress led to such an aggravation of the historian's relationship with his young wife that this relationship ended in tragedy and a court case - the historian's defense asked questions to the very person who, quite possibly, was involved in generating threats. However, as I understand it, it has not yet been possible to bring this person to justice.
This my brief analysis provides an example of a more or less multilateral (comprehensive) coverage of threats: citizens are provided with information (1) against whom, (2) in what ways (by what means), (3) from whom (probable version) the threats were made.
This brief analysis lacks an essential element of multilateral (comprehensive) coverage of threats: namely, the content (topic) of the threats. It is clear that they will not threaten to present a large sum of money as a gift (for a favorable attitude towards films as well as towards the renovation of cultural facilities). They threaten with something unpleasant. According to my recollections, the most famous historian was threatened with various unpleasant events (unpleasant events actually had happened in his life).
Nevertheless, "unpleasant events" are something amorphous. Towards what theme (item) could be direct indications or hints? Miscreants may threaten to disclose information of a corrupt nature that threatens the reputation of a threat object. Sometimes "wetness" ("moisture") - "mokruha" - [violenty] happens under the most unexpected circumstances: for example, in connection with important negotiations.... There may be other plots. Specifics are desirable here.
Perhaps this brief example will help a wide variety of media outlets covering outrageous threats against an irreplaceable government employee to provide more comprehensive coverage of such an alarming phenomenon as unacceptable and illegal threats!
