Vladimir Vasilievich and the Georgian city of Gori. The story.

Vladimir Vasilievich and the Georgian city of Gori. The story.

Sergey Sergeyevich decided to describe the evacuation of Vladimir Vasilievich and his mother to the Georgian city of Gori:

'Vladimir Vasilievich and the city of Gori.

After the first occupation of Rostov-on-Don (in November 1941), the father of Vladimir Vasilievich independently engaged in the evacuation of his wife and son.

Into the evacuation, several families rode in a military train loaded with ammunition.

On the way, the train was bombed by a fascist planes several times. But there was no the fatal consequences of those bombings.

The echelon suddenly started moving and suddenly stopped (usually far from the railway stations). To jump back into the railway wagon was extremely difficult task. Catching up with the train was unrealistic.

At a certain railway crossing, Vladimir Vasilievich looked out of the railway car to see vicinities. Suddenly, he saw his father looking at him. The father waved his hand to Vladimir Vasilyevich.

The echelon followed further. But family members knew that events were developing more or less normally.

In Gori, the mother and son were settled in some structure nearby the house of a man who fought at the front. The father of a serviceman was the eldest, the chief in the house.

This elderly man sometimes respectfully told the mother of Vladimir Vasilievich : 'You are a good woman!' Apparently, he praised her for her moral qualities.

The old man spoke of Stalin with words incomprehensible to the arrivals. Something like: "This thug!"

What was behind those words? Now you cann't to penetrate into the psychology of the old man ...

When the old man's son came back from the front (a young colonel, whose one arm was amputated), this man after wound occupied some important post (something like the commandant of the city). Vladimir Vasilievich and his mother were moved to some other location.

They were engaged in repairing the primus stoves. It was their employment and a source of livelihood.

Vladimir Vasilievich often had to go to a local bazaar (perhaps the workshop for repairing primus stoves where he worked was located at the bazaar).

He was surprised at the abundance in the market for a variety of products. The interest was attracted by people who came on horseback from remote mountain villages. They brought for sale various goods (including alcoholic beverages). Many locals wore national clothes.

At the same time, Vladimir Vasilievich studied at a local school. He even managed to learn the Georgian language a little. He had a not bad grades.

In general, Gori surprised with a calm, a prosperity, a well-being.

The period of life there passed more or less calmly. No friendship, no hostile relations with anyone. Perhaps there was a slight sympathy for the evacuees. "Hard times!" "In Moscow, smart people ordered to organize an evacuation!"

As the situation at the front changed and due to some other circumstances, a movement began, back to Rostov-on-Don. Those evacuated with stops in various settlements gradually returned home. '

The story turned out to be very short. But what to write if life in Gori was at evacuees a scarce, a poor, but, still, relatively calm, prosperous and, even, to some extent, interesting?..
