  Lecture 19
We only knew the Sun and the Moon. We tilled the Earth and waged war over its lands. As we discovered
more stars, we strung them into constellations. We crossed the seas and the oceans, led by the light. The
more we learned of the cosmos, the more it pushed us back - letting loose, for all us to see, a creature of
an unknown kind. The universe kept expanding, and knowledge fell into order. Moving forward, cutting
through darkness with the light, we made our way toward light. Systems of rule began to form.
Knowledge came down to us from above - through flashes of insight, through meditation and so on.
Rules became laws and postulates. We set out to colonize dead stars and hostile planets.
