The film "The White Sun of the Desert" was very popular among the wide audience. And cosmonauts have established a tradition: to watch this film before a flight into space.
This film shows pretty girls - they made up the harem of one of the characters of this film.
There are three positive characters in this movie.:
(1) Fyodor Ivanovich Sukhov, a (Post-revolutionary) Red Army soldier, who walks through the desert and who dreams of some kind of woman, the semi-mythical Katerina Matveevna (wife?).
He comes and goes. He continues to walk in the desert.
(2) Petrukha, a (Post-revolutionary) Red Army soldier, who acts nearby the pretty women-members of the harem.
Petrukha killed by the (former) harem owner.
(3) Pavel Artemievich Vereshchagin, customs officer. He lives with his wife Nastasia.
He was blown up (he was blown up, torn apart by a mine) when he was on a longboat. The mine was planted in the longboat by Fyodor Ivanovich Sukhov. The further fate of Vereshchagin's wife (widow) - Nastasia - is not characterized.
