Authoritarian (totalitarian) regimes have the ability to hinder the intellectual development of society.
Regimes based on the separation of powers and freedom of information have the ability to accumulate intellectual potential.
Was a "secret weapon" used in Venezuela? If so, which one?
We won't assume the roles of television and radio hosts (or other mysterious, higher-level experts) who understand the mysteries of global affairs.
Let's, at first, ask a few very simple questions:
- What is the nature of the injuries sustained by the deceased Cuban members of Mr. Maduro's personal security detail and the Venezuelan military personnel who report unusual effects on their bodies and minds?
- What are the results of the examination of the house in which Mr. Maduro and his wife were before their transfer to another legal reality?
- Was there a clear, cloudless sky on the night of the known events?
Information on the nature of the injuries sustained by the deceased Cuban members of Mr. Maduro's personal security detail and the Venezuelan military personnel would provide a rough idea of whether a "secret weapon" was used and what its impact was.
Data from the inspection of the house where Mr. Maduro and his wife were (before their transfer to another legal reality) could shed light on the use of combat robots (such robots would inevitably leave some traces).
Information about clear skies (on the night of the infamous events) would suggest the use of a satellite constellation for various purposes.
Now let's move on to more general questions:
- Was a decision made to conduct a thorough, comprehensive investigation of the incident?
- Was an investigative team (group) formed, and were its rights and responsibilities defined?
- Was a comprehensive investigation plan drawn up, including conducting various forensic examinations?
The general public learned a lot about the events following Mr. Maduro's change of status, but this public learned nothing about the comprehensive investigation or the details that would shed light on the "secret weapon."
A comprehensive investigation, the formation of an investigative team, the development of an investigative plan (plan of research), and the implementation of specific forensic actions-all of this requires intellectually developed people! Wouldn't such people "overshadow" those at the top of the Venezuelan government?
So, the authoritarian regime created a less-than-intelligent leadership and a rather primitive layer of subordinates. The opposition to the Maduro regime-all of these people-were expelled beyond Venezuela's borders.
For comparison, let's recall Tsarist Russia in February 1917.
The leadership was not distinguished by its particular intellectual potential. The opposition was energetic and intelligent (smart). The subjugated masses chose a path that, as it turned out a little later, was not particularly attractive (war communism, rationing, mass starvation, huge volumes of virtually free labor (of unpaid working), etc.).
Denikin and Kolchak, men who emerged from the old regime, also showed little ability in a military affairs and in a state building.
Sergei Korolev and Igor Kurchatov operated in special, closed worlds, virtually autonomous from the political regime. Almost simultaneously, such figures as People's Academician Comrade Lysenko, who fought against genetics, flourished.
It seems Iran is currently conducting an interesting social experiment in working with the opposition. Let's see the results.
