The Subculture of "Independent Lonely Girls." An essay.

  A "WOMEN'S CLUB" AND A "SUBCULTURE."

A strange (at first glance) divorce is.

A curious process unfolds before our eyes: a mother of many children, married for nearly twenty years to a successful and caring man (he is a TV star), files for divorce. She's having an affair with a neighbor (in an elite settlement).

Perhaps she has an education, a profession, a life experience? It seems she has none of that. - Except for the experience of family life and of the raising of several children.

Where does such audacity and self-confidence come from?

Wait a moment! A "women's club" is mentioned.

  That's interesting.

An external support, external opinion, - especially collective opinion - are usually important (are significant) for girls (women).

If so, then the question arises about the collective psychology (subculture) of "independent lonely girls."

Next, I will try to briefly organize the knowledge I have on this topic.

  I. "BOYS."

"Boys" (pronounced with a barely noticeable breathiness, with a slight dreaminess) is a complex, multifaceted concept of advanced, desirable for communication, for sex, male individuals. The social qualities of 'boys' are not of significant importance; a physiological characteristics matter.

  II. "OLD MEN."

"Old men" ("old fools," "old farts," etc.) (pronounced with disgust, verging on hatred).

A separate, terrifying topic: sex with "old men," described in dark tones.

III. "GIRLS" (DEVOCHKI - " YOUNG GIRLS" - a stylized friendly term for women of roughly the same age who belong to the same circle)

'Girls' (devochki) ('girlfriends') are female individuals of similar age and status with whom another 'girl' can chat about various topics.

Devochka ("a young girl") is supposed to live alone and to gulyat' - literally: to walk - to 'have fun' (that is, to entertain herself (to take a time) with various-random-men, 'boys').

A "girl" is supposed to be happy when she is a lonely (free from family and household responsibilities). Such female persons are considered "one of ours" ("of our circle").

"Girls" who are unable to hide the negative emotions (suffering) caused by female loneliness are considered as despised. Such female persons are the objects of baiting, a little, and they are ridiculed.

It is considered decent and proper to highlight, to underline the advantages of a lonely life.

"Girls" - revisionists. Such female persons accept family life on the condition that they subjugate their husband (partner) and turn him into "koshelka."

(Koshyolka - a shopping bag - a household bag - a sign, a quality of a married woman returning from the grocery store with a food for her family).

"Girls" - radicals. They cultivate a particularly cynical, contemptuous attitude toward family values, intimate relationships between men and women, and childbearing. The most contemptuous, vile terms, phrases, and expressions are selected to characterize of a sexial relations, of a childbearing, and of a family relationships.

IV. "Koshyolki" [koshyolka in plural]- women busy with household and family chores (usually married).

(A common) opinion about household chores and housework: "There is nothing more unpleasant and thankless than women's domestic work."

  V. REGRETTABLE INEQUALITY of men (in general) and women ('girls').

For example. It may be pronounced with disappointment and bewilderment: 'A man can to call a girl to do a striptease (for a sex). But a girl cannot to call a man to do such things (for such activities).'

  A "WOMEN'S CLUB" AND A "TRADITIONAL CULTURE".

In traditional culture, girls' and women's inclination to socialize (to make contacts) was satisfied through moderate interaction within a family (among family members) and during a traditional collective activities.

A working girl (woman) interacts with colleagues at her work. Outside of her work - in places of a casual gathering.

A 'Women's Club' in itself implies a significant amount of free time (free from household chores and family concerns, from work (job) and professional obligations, official duties). Accordingly, (1) appropriate topics for discussion, (2) a collective psychology, and (3) a group subculture emerge.

Additional information: 'In the past two years, the incidence of syphilis has been sharply increasing in Russia.'
